The Governator, Sharon Stone and Michael Ironside, are all being replaced with some younger, fresher faces.
Last week “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston signed on as the villain for the film, along side Collin Farrell who will play the male lead.
The female lead has been trimmed down to a list of Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger, Eva Mendes, Paula Patton, Jessica Biel, and Eva Green.
Word is that Sony has offered the lead to Jessica Biel, who would either play Lori, originally played by Sharon Stone, or Melina, originally played by Rachel Ticotin.
The remake “involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.” Cranston will play Vilos Cohaagen, “the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.”
“Total Recall” is scheduled to hit theaters August 3rd, 2012.
