A third Hangover was certainly in the cards for Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis.
The moment the crew escaped Thailand, I knew a third was on the way.
We even began getting story lines how Warner Bros. was ready to deviate from the path of the first two drunken odysseys completely, that means no trip to a place and black out with no idea how it happened.
Now as talks begin to speed up, word has it that Helms, Cooper, and Galifianakis are asking for $15 Million a piece for the third film.
Now this may sound outrageous but it really isn’t when you consider the type of cash these films bring in. The cult-like following they have make it cash cow, no matter how good or bad they are.
The trio were paid less than a million each for the first film, and got a hefty bump to $5 million for the second film.
Reports have come out that the trio has presented a united front in salary negotiations for the third film, and are now likely to be paid their demanded amount. Warner Bros. is hoping that the pic will go into production this summer in time for a Memorial Day 2013 release.
It’s widely known that Warner Bros. wants some gaurentee’s in their pocket as the Harry Potter saga is over, and this summer marks the close of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films. They know shooting another Hangover will be a home run, so the salary demands shouldn’t be an issue.
Many fans were disappointed with The Hangover Part II, it seemed to follow the exact same pattern as the first film and had a high bar to reach in order to be a success. There were a few hilarious parts in the second film, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the original, let’s hope the third, with the new plot, will be another gem.
