Still the funniest movie of the year in my eyes, it wasn’t that big of a surprise when a few weeks after the films release a sequel was given the green light.
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum were a great tandem in 21 Jump Street, feeding off each other, and Tatum actually stood out a bit being out of his comfort zone.
Hill is about to star in The Watch, a sci-fi comedy, and he took time to talk about the sequel to 21 Jump Street.
Hill says that he and Michael Bacall, started working on the sequel script in February, before the film even opened.Jump Street raked in $197 million worldwide, so a sequel was pretty much a no brainer.
Here is what Hill had to say:
“We’re shooting a year from September, and Michael Bacall and I are writing it right now.”
Folks shouldn’t be surprised that they are taking their time with this, seeing how Hill has a full plate with The Wolf of Wall Street next with Leo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese along with other projects in the pipeline, while Tatum is shooing White House Down.
Bringing back the supporting cast will also be key to the sequels success, but fans should be excited to see Hill and Tatum team up again.
