I reached out to a buddy of mine, a Sergeant in the Marines for clarification on the title.
“Zero Dark Thirty” signifies the middle of the night, he went on to say:
“It’s just something you say to the guys when you’re explaining you’re going to be up really late or early but you’re not sure exactly when”
How that plays into the film, we’ll have to wait and see.
Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt, Jessica Chastain star in the film, along with Mark Strong, Kyle Chandler, Frank Grillo and Mark Duplass.
In June Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said no unauthorized information was provided to filmmakers of this movie. Inside an article by The Huffington Post a few months ago, Republican Rep. Peter King of New York had harsh words about the film:
King has argued that the CIA and Pentagon jeopardized national security by cooperating too closely with director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal. The two won Academy Awards for the motion picture “The Hurt Locker.”
Last month, King cited documents obtained by Judicial Watch in a Freedom of Information Act request. He said the filmmakers received “extremely close, unprecedented and potentially dangerous collaboration” from the Obama administration.
Zero Dark Thirty hits theaters December 19th, 2012
