We finally have an official trailer.
After re-do’s, time on the shelf and teasers, the theatrical trailer is here.
The film is about a group of teenagers who decide to fight against a foreign invasion by the North Koreans. In the original 1984 film, it was the Russians, and the remake wanted to update the invaders to the Chinese.
However, after they finished shooting, the producers discovered that this might hurt distribution in China, so they decided to do some CGI change-ups to the flags and enemies. As you can see, tons of studio, and political red tape (no pun intended) to get around, but we finally got the teaser.
The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Josh Peck, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Connor Cruise.
Sure it sucks that films have to sit on shelves when it’s not their fault, but the positive is now Hemsworth, Hutcherson, Morgan and even Palicki are bigger names and should attract more of an audience.
In Red Dawn, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.
Red Dawn hits theaters on November 21st, 2012.
