And apparently Goodman will be playing the film’s villain. Well, a villain in the Hangover sense of the term.
Following in the footsteps of Mr. Chow and Paul Giamatti, John Goodman has joined the cast of The Hangover Part III as the film’s villain. Goodman is no stranger to comedies, having starred in probably the funniest movie ever made, The Big Lebowski.

Variety reports the actor is in talks to play the antogonist, but the word “antagonist” is being used broadly. I’m not sure Mr. Chow or Giamatti’s character were a real threat to the Wolf Pack, but those character’s did give the gang a run for their money. Variety says Goodman will be “an antagonist in the vein of the character Paul Giamatti played in Hangover II.”
Goodman joins the cast that already includes Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, and Mike Epps. Intriguingly, Variety also says that Sean Penn and Robert Downey, Jr. are on director Todd Phillips’ wish list for an unnamed role.
The plot is rumored to see Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha breaking Zach Galifianakis’ character out of a mental institute.
The Wolf Pack returns May 24, 2013.
