Lars von Trier is not your average film maker, just look at his movies.
Well now he is proving just how “unaverage” he is with his upcoming film Nymphomaniac. Boasting a solid cast, with a very sensitive subject, boarding on the levels of Steve McQueen’s Shame, this won’t be your typical film involving sex.
The film follows the sexual events in a woman’s life from her youth to age 50, she’ll be played by Charlotte Gainsbourg. Shia LaBeouf, Stella Skarsgard,Willem Dafoe, and Nicole Kidman are also set to star.
Hit the jump for the quotes from LaBeouf, where he mentions just how far the script goes and how he is taking his character to new depths.
LaBeouf says he is finished with franchise films, no more Transformers and kiddie films, it’s on to serious drama’s and indies. We can next see him in the prohibition western drama Lawless at the end of the month.
Recently LaBeouf was the focal point of a music video for Sigur Ros where he did a full-frontal scene.
He’s come a long way since The Disney Channel and Even Stevens.
LaBeouf, while promoting Lawless, told MTV News there are no plans to “simulate” the sex scenes in this film:
“It is what you think it is. There’s a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says, we’re doing [the sex] for real. And anything that is ‘illegal’ will be shot in blurred images. But other than that, everything is happening.”
Pretty daring, and interesting. You have to wonder how big names like Kidman and Dafoe feel about this “hands on” approach and if they’ll stick with it.
